Thank you so much to everyone who attended Songs & Stories, an amazing concert featuring Amy LaVere and Alvin Youngblood Hart with special guests Jim Dickinson, Sid Selvidge, Jimmy Crosthwait, Steve Selvidge, and Paul Taylor. More than 680 people packed Minglewood Hall on April 19th for this wonderful night of music and stories, and True Story Pictures raised over $17,000 to carry out its mission to document stories that educate, inspire, and connect our community. Funds raised will support our programs, productions, and educational outreach in 2009. Special thanks to our event sponsors: Red Deluxe, Minglewood Hall, Memphis Flyer, Ardent Studios, Beale Street Caravan, Live From Memphis, and Memphis Music Foundation, Another Roadside Attraction Catering, The Beauty Shop Restaurant, Do Sushi / Noodle Doodle Do, and The Molly Fontaine Lounge. |

Voices of Jericho is a feature-length documentary about three individuals with serious mental illness who are navigating their way through the criminal justice system here in Memphis. This film will focus on clients of Shelby County’s groundbreaking jail diversion program, The Jericho Project. This project is based on our short documentary, which won Best Documentary at the Indie Memphis Film Festival in 2007. We are producing this documentary to raise the profile of Memphis on a national level, to create awareness about our innovative jail diversion model, to instill community pride, and to personalize the story of mental illness. Each of the individuals who are featured in the film will have an opportunity to tell their own stories. Audiences will have an opportunity to see the world from their point of view. |
