Our mission is to document stories that educate, inspire and connect our community. At True Story Pictures, we recognize the documentary as both an art form and a community-building agent. Our programs engage the public in the process of recording their life stories and celebrating community history. Our goals are to produce documentaries and educational materials and to serve as an online resource and digital archive of life story interviews. Established in 2004, True Story Pictures is the only nonprofit documentary production group in the Mid-South. As we move into a new era in which video becomes the dominant means of communication, we must preserve our heritage for future generations in a way that will remain relevant and meaningful. If we can collect and archive the life stories of our community on video today, we will create a priceless storehouse of shared experience and memories. By involving members of the community in collecting each other's life stories, True Story Pictures will help us all understand and appreciate the rich and varied tapestry of life in the Mid-South. In the process, individuals from diverse backgrounds will have the opportunity to interact, grow, and learn together. The True Story Pictures archive will become a leading resource for video material documenting the life stories and history of the region. It will be available to educators, filmmakers, historians, students, and anyone with an interest in the region via the Internet. The archive will be designed in such a way that material will be digitized and maintained to the standards of the prevalent technology of the day.
