True Story Pictures produces life story videos and documentaries. We have two program areas that focus on specific populations: The Arts Interviews captures interviews with older regional artists, and Voices of Jericho captures interviews with people with serious mental illness who are involved in the criminal justice system. We
also work with families and community partners to document the stories
of individuals and organizations across the Mid-South. Our Life Story Studio captures
life story interviews with older members of the community who are
sponsored by their families, employers, places of worship, or other
community-based organizations. On occasion, through our Documentary Studio,
we work with community partners to produce contemporary or historical
documentaries that focus on stories unique to Memphis and the Mid-South. Every interview we conduct, whether it is captured for a life story video or a documentary, is catalogued and stored in the TSP Archive.
This is a community archive that was designed to create access to
stories about Memphians and Memphis history. It is our hope that as we
watch and learn from these stories, we will not only grow to understand
each other better, but we will also learn from the past to build
stronger community relationships and a brighter future for all of us.
