Thursday, October 2, 2008, 7pm at Malco Paradiso Join True Story Pictures this fall for a theatrical screening of Leveling the Playing Field, our latest documentary produced in partnership with BRIDGES. This doc tells the story of the Bridge Builders® program, which has provided leadership and diversity training to high school students for the past 20 years. Tickets are $10 each or $15 including a DVD and discussion guide. For current Bridge Builders and alumni of the program, tickets are just $5, and DVDs are $5 extra. From May 16 to September 14, the Voices of Jericho video installation will be featured in an exhibit called “The Artist’s Voice” in the Conte Community Arts Gallery at the Frist Center for the Visual Arts in Nashville. This video installation features the same individuals as the short documentary, but allows them to share their experiences through longer life story interviews, which connect on an emotional level with audiences. If you are in Nashville this summer, please visit the Frist to see this exhibit! |

We are happy to announce that we have recently received two grant awards that will help us expand our programming. A $20,000 grant from the United Way of the Mid-South’s Avron B. Fogelman Venture Fund will go towards our feature-length documentary, Voices of Jericho, which will chronicle the stories of four individuals with serious mental illness as they navigate their way out of the Shelby County jail system. Thanks to a $10,000 grant from the Community Foundation of Greater Memphis, we can begin developing an online video archive of all of the oral history and documentary interviews we have conducted since 2004.

Following the momentum of The Arts Interviews: Series One and Series Two, True Story Pictures is now filming The Arts Interviews: Series Three, featuring artists Mimi Dann, Luther Hampton, Jameson Jones and John McIntire. There will be a DVD release party for these four films in Fall 2008 at Memphis College of Art. |
